Craig Pasqua (Cherokee) interviews Marvel Harding (Ohkay Owingeh) and Teddy Caskey (Oglala Sioux-Northern Cheyenne) on Native Voice TV.
Harding and Caskey moved to San Jose in their early adolescents (1950- 60’s) from two different reservations (San Juan, N.M. and Pine Ridge, N.D., respectively). Each tell their story of their experiences in Indian Boarding Schools and how they met in San Jose.
Pasqua states how each of them are long term residents of San Jose and how they have dedicated their traditional ‘Quilt making skills.’to the Indian community.
This show gives two different perspectives of how the Relocation from their reservations to the city had affected them to assimilate to mainstream society and how to keep their traditions and culture.
